New Dometic console concept for enhanced comfort
Bridging today with tomorrow
The cars of the future will have the comforts of home on board, Dometic GROUP’s engineers are convinced. Inspired by this vision, they have conceived many ingenious ideas. More recently, the mobile technology specialists pioneered a solution that integrates elegant, reliable cooling compartments and smart energy systems in a so called “comfort bridge”.
This masterpiece of design can be admired at the Dometic GROUP stand at this year’s IAA in Frankfurt as part of the spectacular EDAG SUV concept study. The “comfort bridge” seamlessly extends from the front middle console to the through-load in the rear.
The future-orientated concept includes all it takes to make travelling an enjoyable experience: a classic “board-bar” between the rear seats, a compressor-powered cooling compartment holding the snacks for the journey, a thermoelectric bottle cooler for quick refreshment, and an innovative thermal cup holder that keeps hot coffee or chilled lemonade ready at hand. The “comfort bridge” combines all of this with an elegantly disguised energy station, which is well equipped for all situations as well. Integrating a USB charger port and a 230-volt socket for all comfort gadgets and consumer electronics that require AC power to work, the comfort bridge provides a matching solution to every need.
“Many comfort solutions we designed and engineered in cooperation with the automotive industry have become firm fixtures in the manufacturers’ original equipment lists,” says Carsten Isenberg, President Automotive OEM at Dometic GROUP. “We are confident our product ideas will be indispensible comfort features in future cars.“
Dometic innovations have had a decisive impact on the market during the past decades. For example, the technology specialists were the first to integrate a mobile 230-volt socket in a series-produced car, the VW Passat. Moreover, Dometic GROUP designed integrated cooling solutions for all major automotive manufacturers and thus underscored its position as a trend-setter in mobile refrigeration time and again.
