Cool drinks in the city jungle
The “biggest Mini ever built” may soon become even more attractive. Mobile cooling specialist Dometic has created a bespoke bottle cooler that fits the innovative rail system of the lifestyle crossover, Mini Countryman.
The smart cooling appliance blends harmoniously with the interior of the compact SUV. It keeps beverages contained in cans or 0.5-litre bottles nicely cool and fresh. If interest is shown, the trendy cooler might soon go into series production. As a result, lifestyle-orientated “asphalt cowboys” would always have their favourite refreshment within reach, which helps them keep their cool and calm in any (road) situation.
The smart comfort extra for the Mini Countryman is based on wear-free thermoelectric refrigeration technology. It cools the contents up to 15 degrees below the ambient temperature. The integrated thermostat shuts the system off at +5 degrees Celsius to prevent excessive cooling and ensure undiminished enjoyment. The modular beverage cooler can be supplied in the colour of the car or in any desired colour. The definite highlight is the fastening system. Like with other similar original, factory-fitted accessories, the unit simply clicks into the centre rail system that extends from the front seats to the back, so it will slide to any position required.
The beverage cooler works whisper-quiet. Powered by the 12-volt car battery, it reliably maintains the temperature at a constant level. It stores standard 0.5-litre bottles as well as 0.33-litre beverage cans. Despite its excellent performance, it draws very little energy, a modest 36 watts on average.
The whole unit weighs a mere 700 grams, which makes it an ideal companion for the rigours of everyday city driving.
