Longest serving A/C unit found
When celebrating the production of its 50,000th A/C service unit last year, Dometic WAECO was searching for the oldest WAECO A/C service station still in use. They found it at Bosch Car Service Derichs in Stolberg, a German town near Aachen, where a WAECO RHS 750 has been loyally doing its job for over 25 years now. The good old machine is maintained with loving care by Günter Derichs, who passed his master craftsman’s exams in 1974, the founding year of the WAECO company. The service unit is regularly in use even today, now for the disposal of worn-out R12 A/C systems.
The prize for the winner of the “Old for New” competition, a state-of-the-art WAECO A/C ASC 2500 LowEmission service unit, was recently handed to Günter Derichs by Dometic WAECO Territory Manager Central Europe, Horst Gottwald and Sales Manager Automotive, Jürgen Kuschel. Mr Gottwald was the one who gave the start-up instructions, then being Key Account Manager at WAECO, so the two experts enjoyed reviving memories during the prize-giving ceremony and cited the long-term relations between Bosch Car Service and Dometic WAECO. “I have complete confidence in the WAECO A/C service stations,” says Günter Derichs. “The RHS 750 has been doing fine for over 25 years – a unique experience I have only made with WAECO equipment so far.”
Living up to its mission to provide perfect solutions for workshop use, A/C specialist Dometic WAECO this year invites everyone interested to participate in the development of future-orientated WAECO AirCon Service products. This is what the WAECO Workshop Award 2016 is all about. The company is looking for the best ideas and problem solutions that have come up in day-to-day A/C service work – be it an exceptional application for a WAECO tool, a self-developed adapter or a unique installation option that works even better than anything known before. Besides the WAECO Workshop Award, the prize for the three smartest ideas includes a VIP invitation to the Automechanika show in Frankfurt, a voucher worth 300 € for a barbecue party in the workshop as well as a high-quality WAECO CoolFun CK 40 D hybrid portable cooler. The competition will last until August 15. Participants are invited to describe, photograph or film their ideas and problem solutions and submit them by Email to email@example.com. All submissions made in the course of the competition will be published in the web forum. The winners will be announced immediately after the end of the competition.
